Pricing
A free look first, then Pro.
Every mailbox starts with an audit, which is free: Brood reads your recent mail once and shows you what it would do. Pro is Brood doing it, and you can try it first.
The audit
Free
once, on one mailbox
Brood reads your last 30 days once, arranges them, and shows you what it would do: the atlas, the portrait, the week, and the rule book. Then it stops reading, and files nothing. Your never-quiet list holds on every plan.
Pro
$9 a month, billed once a year ($108)
or $12 a month, billed monthly, for one mailbox
and $5 a month for each mailbox after the first
Prices are before sales tax, which is added where it is owed.
Brood files what you confirm before it reaches your inbox, brings back a reply or a returning customer it had filed, and quiets a home whose sender has gone silent.
Starting Pro
Pro is started from your account page in the app, where you choose to pay by the year or by the month, and where, once Pro is paid for, you can add mailboxes. How the trial works, and what a code does to it, is answered below.
Brood is open by invitation while Google reviews it. If you have one, sign in and start Pro there. If not, join the list and we will write when Brood can take you.
On every plan
Some mail always reaches you.
A password reset, a sign-in code, a fraud alert: Brood keeps a list of senders whose mail always reaches you, and no filter Brood makes will file it away. You can add to the list on any plan, it is the same list on the audit, the trial and Pro, and paying changes nothing about it.
Questions about paying
What happens if I cancel?
Your account goes back to Free, the audit's terms, at the end of your paid period, and your labels stay in Gmail: they are your mail, organised, and we would not take that away. The filters are a different matter. A filter keeps running at Google whether or not you are paying us, and we would no longer be there to maintain the exceptions that keep things like password resets out of it. So when your paid period ends, we take the filters out and leave the labels.
Brood also stops reading your mail then. What it last showed you stays as it was, true of the day it stopped. Subscribing again picks up where it left off.
Can I get my money back?
Yes, if you ask within 14 days of your first payment for Pro: write to us and we refund it in full, and Pro ends. After that, cancelling stops Pro at the end of the period you have paid for, and the rest of that period is not refunded.
Is there a free trial of Pro?
Yes, the first time you start Pro without a code: Pro for 30 days on one mailbox, and we ask for your billing address but not a card. It runs that long on purpose: what Brood is worth is what stops reaching you, and that takes weeks to notice. More mailboxes are added once Pro is paid for.
Before any of it, every new mailbox gets the audit, which is free. Brood reads the last 30 days once, shows you what it found and what it would file, and changes nothing. Then it stops reading, and what it showed you stays as it was.
When a trial ends without a subscription, the mailbox goes back to the audit's terms: Brood's filters come out, your labels stay, and Brood stops reading. The account page says when the trial ends from the first day, and never counts down to it.
The trial comes once. Start Pro again after it and Pro is paid from that day, with a card. A code you were given takes the trial's place: Pro starts on the code's terms, with no trial.
Anything else about paying is worth asking a person. The same answers are on the docs.
