Terms of service
The terms.
In effect from 16 October 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and Noisy Brood, LLC ("we", "us"), which makes Noisy Brood ("Brood"). They apply when you create a Brood account, connect a mailbox to it, or use it in any other way. If you do not agree to them, do not use Brood.
Privacy describes what Brood reads, keeps and never reads. It is part of what we promise you here, and these terms do not take anything away from it.
Who may use Brood
You must be at least 18 years old, on every plan. Brood acts on a mailbox, and the person who agrees to that has to be able to agree for themselves.
You may connect only a mailbox that is yours, or one you are authorized to connect. A work account may need its Google Workspace administrator to allow Brood first, and what your employer permits is between you and your employer. While Brood is not yet open to everyone, an account needs an invitation.
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in to yourself. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
What Brood does to your mailbox
Brood reads who writes to you, never what they wrote, and works out where your mail belongs from that. It writes what it works out back into your mailbox as labels, and it proposes rules for filing mail. A rule is installed in Gmail as a filter only when you confirm it.
Filing moves a message out of your inbox and under a label. Brood never deletes a message, never sends one, and never composes one. A home you have already confirmed may be quieted after a long silence, as the rule book in the app describes.
Mail from an address on your list of senders who must always reach you is never filed, whatever a rule says. Mail from anyone else can be, including a password reset or a security alert from a sender you have not added. Add the ones that matter to you.
Brood works by rules, and rules can be wrong. A message may be filed where you would not have put it. Check what Brood has filed, and change or remove any rule that does not suit you.
Your Google account
Brood reaches your mail through the permission you grant on Google's consent screen, and Google's own terms continue to apply to your Google account. You can also remove Brood at any time from the apps linked to your Google Account.
Changing your Google password withdraws Brood's access. When that happens Brood stops working for that mailbox until you connect it again, and we email you to say so.
Plans, payment and renewal
The Free plan is a one-time look back over your recent mail, in one mailbox. It changes nothing in your mailbox, and it ends.
Pro costs $9 a month for one mailbox, billed once a year, or $12 a month, billed monthly, in US dollars, and $5 a month for each mailbox after the first, billed the same way. You choose how many mailboxes your plan pays for, and can change it from your account page; a change part of the way through a period is charged or credited for the part that is left. A trial of Pro lasts 30 days, is for one mailbox, and asks for your billing address but no card; if you give no card before it ends, Pro ends with it and you are not charged. More mailboxes can be added once Pro is paid for.
Prices do not include sales tax. Where tax is owed on Pro, it is added to each charge, worked out from the billing address you give when you subscribe, which you can change from your account page.
Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly as you chose, and you are charged the price then in effect, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page in the app. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and Pro continues until then. When Pro ends, Brood takes its filters out of your Gmail and leaves the labels and the mail under them where they are.
If you ask within 14 days of your first payment for Pro, we refund it in full and Pro ends. After that, payments are not refunded, including for the unused part of a period. If you switch between monthly and yearly billing, the unused part of what you have paid is credited toward the new plan. We will tell you by email before a change in price reaches your next renewal.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or keep your card number.
Your mail and your data
Your mail is yours, and so is what Brood learns from it. We use it to run Brood for you, as Privacy describes, and for nothing else. Brood decides what to propose by rules and counts you can read, and never sends your data to a model, its own or anyone else's. If you point an assistant of your own at what Brood has learned, that is your assistant, reading your record, because you asked.
Using Brood fairly
You agree not to:
- connect a mailbox you are not authorized to connect;
- use Brood to break the law, or to break the terms of the services it connects to;
- try to reach any part of Brood, or anyone else's data in it, that is not meant for you;
- interfere with Brood's working, or put a load on it that it is not built to carry;
- copy, resell or rebuild Brood, or take its code apart, except where the law allows it whatever these terms say.
Brood, its name, its marks and its code are ours. These terms give you the right to use Brood while they are in effect, and no other right in it.
Leaving
You can disconnect your mailbox or delete your account at any time, from the app.
- Disconnecting takes Brood's filters out of your Gmail first.
- Any filter it cannot remove is listed, with where to take it out yourself, and goes on filing mail until you do.
- The labels stay, and so does the mail under them.
- Then it asks Google to withdraw Brood's access, and deletes Brood's sealed copy of that permission once Google confirms; Brood stops looking at the mailbox.
- What Brood has already noted about your mail goes when you delete your account. Copies in the database's backups expire within 30 days.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it. An account with no sign-in for a year may be closed, after an email to say it will be, and its access to your mailbox withdrawn.
What we do not promise
We work to keep Brood running and to file your mail as your rules say. Beyond what these terms state, Brood is provided as it is and as it is available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose. Google may change or withdraw what Brood relies on, and Brood may change or stop as a result.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from Brood. Our total liability to you for anything arising from Brood is limited to what you paid us in the year before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away a right the law of the place you live gives you as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we will email you before the change takes effect. Using Brood after that means you accept the change. If you do not, you can cancel and leave as described above.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware. If any part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
